Your new home has an existing security system
Many times after you close on a new house, you’ll notice that the previous owners used a home security system. All the alarms and cameras work, are hung in the right spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, all you may have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration issues, and they could offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can have your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you add on.
The outgoing owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer fee to make the process simpler. If the outgoing residents downsize to a condo or smaller home, you keeping the security service might be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and bring your existing components with you
You might need to bring along your old Vivint system with you to your new place when you move. It should be fairly simple to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are wireless. You can remove each alarm or camera yourself or call a professional installer to take care of your devices. Then our installers will set up the same components -- and any new items you want -- in the new house. Your home security contract will stay the same.
